The Cannabis Framework Project aims to craft comprehensive solutions to complex challenges facing the cannabis industry today. Our goal is to accelerate the mainstreaming of cannabis by developing policy frameworks, best practices and standardized nomenclature through open collaboration with industry stakeholders and subject matter experts.
We believe the spread of legalization and transformation of public attitudes depends on reshaping cannabis into an accessible, trustworthy and universally understood product. But effecting real change on foundational issues requires inclusiveness, objectivity and a shared commitment to progress over tradition alone. No single organization dictates this path, but together we can navigate it.
The Cannabis Framework Project was established to help guide that journey in a pragmatic, solution-focused way. Our work brings together cannabis advocates, business leaders, policymakers, medical professionals and consumers to derive practical strategies for achieving cannabis’ mainstream potential while honoring its cultural legacy. The frameworks and models we build aim for applicability and real-world implementation.
Our initial undertaking focuses on developing an intuitive classification system and standardized nomenclature for cannabis strains based on their specific compounds, flavors, aromas and effects. This project incorporates insights from cannabis experts, chemists, doctors and consumer research to publish a simplified taxonomy that producers and brands can adopt voluntarily to better serve both patients and recreational consumers in this newly legal market.
Future policy frameworks will provide guidance on social equity issues surrounding cannabis legalization, best practices for sustaining environmentally ethical scaling of this industry and recommended standards for product quality, testing, packaging and labelling to build consumer trust.
The path to progress is always complex, but together we can forge it. The Cannabis Framework Project invites individuals and organizations to join our collaborative community and help envision the future of cannabis. Our work strives for inclusiveness, pragmatism, and the greater good of this plant and those who stand to benefit from it. The future remains unwritten. We welcome you to help shape it.
